SafariBlock v1.13

FSB Software

Released 8/29/2005

Notes:

The goal of SafariBlock is to provide a seamless extension to Safari Web Browser that supports ad-blocking.

It is by design an imitation of Firefox's AdBlock extension, written because I love AdBlock, but I prefer to use Safari on Mac OS X.

Requirements*:

    OS X 10.3.x with Safari version 1.3+

Update Notes:

To save your filters, copy BlockStrings.plist in the SafariBlock folder to SafariBlockFilters.plist in your Preferences folder.

(If SafariBlock is installed in ~/Library/InputManagers copy to ~/Library/Preferences.  If in /Library/InputManagers copy to /Library/Preferences.)

Installation:

    1) Open up your home directory.

    2) Locate the Library folder and open it**.

    3) Locate (create if necessary) the InputManagers folder.

    4) Drag the entire "SafariBlock" folder into the InputManagers folder.

    5) Restart Safari.

Uninstallation:

    1) Remove the SafariBlock folder from the InputManagers folder.

    2) Restart Safari.

Usage:

When you right-click on an image, you will see "SafariBlock Image."

When you right-click on a frame, you will see "SafariBlock Frame."  You can use this interface to add ad-filters.

To enable right-click blocking of Flash animation, the "Right-click Flash" menu item in the Safari menu must be turned on.

When you right-click on flash animation, you will now see "SafariBlock Flash."

To manage your filters or temporarily disable SafariBlock, open your Safari Preferences.  You will see a SafariBlock tab that contains SafariBlock options.

*: SafariBlock may or may not work with older versions.  Your mileage may vary.

Please notify me if SafariBlock does/doesn't work on your computer.

**: As of version 1.12, you can put SafariBlock in the InputManagers folder in either a user's Library, or the root Library (/Library).
